Stem is a new line of jewelry that I created during my residency at the Museum of Arts and Design.
Attracted to the fragile beauty of clay, the strength of metal and the softness of fibers, I used a combination of these materials to create each item in this collection.
On the first day of my residency, I took a stroll through Central Park, which is just a block away from the museum. During my walk I collected a number of natural artifacts to use as inspiration for this project.
Taken out of their natural context and laid out on pieces of white paper, the twigs, acorns and leaves spoke to me. The images posted here are a visual journal of my thought process and the collection that resulted from it.
